BANGKOK - THAI Prime Minister Abhisit Vejjajiva said on Thursday he would invoke the country's internal security act to place the army in charge of guarding a regional summit rescheduled for next month.

PM Abhisit said the special measures were needed to avoid a repeat of the mayhem at April's meeting, when anti-government protesters stormed the meeting of foreign leaders and forced them to head home early.

 
Swiss found dead on beach

BANGKOK - A SWISS woman was found dead on a Thai beach along the Andaman coast on Thursday, police said, though the cause of death was not immediately clear.
