CHA-AM (Thailand) - SOUTH-EAST Asian economic ministers signed two pacts on trade and investment on Thursday and plan to ink a free trade pact with Australia and New Zealand at an annual summit, where they have vowed to resist protectionism amid the global economic slump.

KUALA LUMPUR - THE Malaysian government has softened an earlier ban on the use of the word 'Allah' by Christian publications to refer to God and is allowing them to use it as long as they specify the material is not for Muslims, a church official said on Thursday.
