BANGKOK - The prime minister of Thailand has admitted that Thai authorities have pushed the Rohingya boat people out to sea in 'some instances' in a CNN interview.

However Abhisit Vejjajiva could not identify who had approved the practice and said that he was currently investigating the situation.

 
Jobless to plant trees

MANILA - PHILIPPINE President Gloria Arroyo is to pay 180,000 people to plant trees across the archipelago as part of efforts to ease the fallout from the global economic meltdown, the government said on Thursday.
