ASIAN stock markets yesterday rocketed to their highest levels in about seven months as upbeat investors shrugged off the prevailing gloom, looking instead to positive news from China.

Managers of large investment funds completely ignored the old and oft-quoted 'sell in May and stay away' stock market adage as they sent foreign money pouring back into regional bourses.
