PARIS - IMF chief Dominique Strauss-Kahn says a discussion over China's call for a new world currency is 'absolutely legitimate' and is likely to take place in coming months.

Mr Strauss-Kahn says such a debate is 'interesting' but isn't likely to move quickly. He says his bigger current focus is on finding a way out of the global financial crisis.

 
Dow up on upbeat data

NEW YORK - WALL Street ended higher on Wednesday in choppy trade after upbeat data on US home sales and durable goods factory orders fueled hopes that an economic recovery is in sight.

Trade was volatile, however, amid tensions on the bond and currency markets, which prompted a dip into negative territory before a late recovery on the stock market.
