LONDON - OIL prices tumbled under US$45 (S$68.81) on Wednesday to reach their lowest level since February 2005 after more weak US economic data sparked concern about slowing global energy demand.

In afternoon deals on London's InterContinental Exchange, Brent North Sea crude for delivery in January fell to US$44.87.

 
European markets down

LONDON - EUROPEAN and US stock markets fell on Wednesday after further dismal economic data. Asian markets were higher after Wall Street's rebound the previous session.

BlackBerry-maker hit by crisis

LONDON - BLACKBERRY maker Research In Motion Ltd cut its third-quarter profit and revenue outlook to well below Wall Street expectations, setting shares in the company up for a 7 per cent fall on Wednesday.

Wall Street dives

NEW YORK - US STOCKS slid lower at the open Wednesday after a weak private employment report stoked concerns about this week's official November jobs data and the spiraling economic downturn.
