Dubai property giant sacks 500

DUBAI - DUBAI property giant Nakheel - behind such grandiose projects as a one-kilometre tower and artificial palm-shaped islands - said Sunday it has fired 500 staff because of the global financial crisis.

Citi to sell Japan NikkoCiti

TOKYO - STRUGGLING Citigroup Inc plans to sell NikkoCiti Trust and Banking Corp, its trust bank unit in Japan, as part of its global restructuring efforts in a deal that could raise up to 40 billion yen (S$635.7 million), Japanese media reported on Sunday.

An auction could be held as early as Monday, the Nikkei business daily said, without citing any sources.
