HAMTRAMCK (Michigan) - Actor Danny Glover joined labor, political and civil-rights leaders on one of the first stops of a four-day, 11-state tour supporting US manufacturing workers.

The 'Lethal Weapon' star told a crowd of mainly union workers on Monday in the Detroit suburb of Hamtramck the 'deindustrialisation of the nation' began in Michigan - home to the US auto industry - and its workers can be 'the architects of their own rescue.'

 
'24' star in headbutting case

NEW YORK - ACTOR Kiefer Sutherland was 'neither the instigator nor the wrongdoer' in an incident at a swank New York City party that saw him charged with assault for headbutting another man, Sutherland's lawyer said on Monday.

The star of the hit television show '24' surrendered to New York City police on Thursday and was charged with a minor assault. He is due to appear in state court on June 22.
