MUMBAI - THE DISPUTE between Bollywood producers and Indian multiplexes over revenue sharing hardened this week, with no end in sight to the month-long boycott of new releases.

Indian movie fans - who spend an estimated 63 billion rupees (S$1.85 billion) each year at theaters - were again presented with a tepid array of aging Hollywood blockbusters and regional films Friday, the night usually reserved for new releases.

 
Hanks throws out first pitch

TOKYO - Hollywood star Tom Hanks was in a league of his own on Friday when he threw out the ceremonial first pitch at a Japanese professional baseball game.

Hanks, who was in Tokyo with director Ron Howard to promote Angels & Demons, took a few warm up pitches in the bullpen before heading out to the mound to throw out the first pitch at a game between the Yomiuri Giants and the Chunichi Dragons at Tokyo Dome.

Bollywood seeks higher profile

MACAU - BOLLYWOOD star Amitabh Bachchan said he hopes an upcoming Indian film conference in the southern Chinese gambling enclave of Macau will help boost the industry's profile in the country.

Unseen lyric goes on display

LONDON - A PREVIOUSLY unseen George Harrison lyric, found on the floor of the Abbey Road studios and dating back to 1967, has gone on display at the British Library.
