LOS ANGELES - THE 'Twilight' movie franchise is getting its third director.

Summit Entertainment said on Thursday that David Slade has been tapped to direct 'Eclipse,' the third film in the series based on the Stephenie Meyer's best-selling vampire books. Slade has bloodsucking experience: His credits include the 2007 horror '30 Days of Night' about an Alaskan town plagued by vampires.

 
Bo is 'kind of crazy': Mrs O

WASHINGTON - FIRST dog Bo is a 'kind of crazy' puppy who likes to chew on people's feet, Michelle Obama told children visiting the White House on Thursday.

The first lady is spending a lot of time walking and training the 6-month-old Portuguese water dog who became a member of President Barack Obama's family last week.

UNIVERSAL CITY (California) - JAY LENO checked into a hospital with an undisclosed illness on Thursday and cancelled the taping of the 'Tonight' show, but was doing well and planned to return next week, his publicist and NBC said.

Ken Annakin dies at 94

LOS ANGELES - BRITISH film-maker Ken Annakin, who directed World War II films 'The Longest Day' and 'Battle of the Bulge,' has died in Los Angeles, it was reported on Thursday. He was 94.

Mr Annakin, who also directed the 'The Swiss Family Robinson' and 'Those Magnificent Men in Their Flying Machines,' passed away at his home in Beverly Hills on Wednesday, his family told the Los Angeles Times.
