'Goodfella' on wanted list

SAN BERNARDINO (California) - A MOBSTER-turned-FBI informant whose life inspired the movie 'Goodfellas' is wanted for failing to appear in court on tickets alleging he was drunk in public in San Bernardino.

Henry Hill, 65, faces two US$25,000 (S$38,000) arrest warrants.

Prophet's carpet under auction

DOHA (Qatar) - A PEARL-STUDDED carpet believed to have been created in India more than 100 years ago as a gift for the tomb of Islam's prophet Mohammed is to be auctioned late on Thursday in Qatar.

The Pearl Carpet of Baroda is traditionally believed to have been commissioned by the maharajah of Baroda as a gift for the prophet's tomb, which is located in the Muslim holy city of Medina in Saudi Arabia, Sotheby's auction house said on its website.

Animated film to open Cannes

PARIS - THIS year's Cannes Film Festival will have an animated opening. The festival's opening-night film will be Up, a 3-D feature from hit-making studio Pixar, organizers announced on Thursday.

The movie is a comedy adventure about a 78-year-old man, voiced by Ed Asner, who rigs helium balloons to his house and flies to South America.
