CHICAGO - PRESIDENT Barack Obama and his wife, Michelle, spent Valentine's Day at an upscale restaurant on Saturday in their hometown.

The Obamas are spending a long weekend in Chicago for their first real break since he became president on Jan 20. Aides say they have no public events.

The Grammy- and Oscar-nominated rapper has announced on her MySpace blog that she has given birth to a son.

Fann-Lee wedding on hold

MALACCA - THE most anticipated wedding of the year here between MediaCorp's A-list stars Fann Wong and Christopher Lee has been put on hold, The Star reported on Sunday.

The couple, both 38, were said to be making plans to tie the knot in Malacca this September but decided against it following the death of Lee's father Shu Qin, 68, after a heart attack on Tuesday.

Peru film wins in Berlin

BERLIN - MOURNFUL Peruvian entry 'The Milk of Sorrow' (La Teta Asustada) won the coveted Golden Bear award for best picture at the Berlin film festival on Saturday.

The first Peruvian film in competition at the annual cinema showcase, the story revolves around Fausta, the product of a rape inflicted on her mother during two decades of rebel violence in which around 70,000 people died or disappeared.
