Cape No. 7 to open in China

BEIJING - TAIWAN'S biggest domestic box office hit, a love story involving its former coloniser Japan, will finally get a screening in China after a delay blamed on the movie's historical slant.

Taiwan's government and newspapers said last month that the Chinese release of 'Cape No. 7' had been delayed, possibly over its overly sentimental view of Japan's rule of Taiwan, a self-ruled island China claims as its own.

Subdued Sundance predicted

PARK CITY (Utah) - THE 25th Sundance Film Festival gets underway on Thursday with more than 100 movies due to be screened over the 10-day carnival, the world's largest marketplace for independent film.

Against a backdrop of the faltering US economy, organisers are expecting a more subdued festival with less raucous partying as film-makers, actors and studio executives descend on the mountain town of Park City.
