THE best talents in the Chinese entertainment scene here and in Asia will be honoured at the inaugural Singapore Entertainment Awards later this year.

Winners of the awards, which recognise a spectrum of entertainment ranging from music, movies, radio to concerts, will be announced in March.

Bold, sophisticated looks

BEVERLY HILLS - THE Golden Globes are a party and the stars came dressed for it. Sunday night's red carpet in Beverly Hills, California, was full of both classic Hollywood glamour and up-and-coming fashion trends.

'I've never seen such a sophisticated Golden Globes. It's like it was the Oscars,' said stylist Mary Alice Stephenson.

Feast for the King

SPORTING skin-tight shiny white jumper suits and hair styled in black quiffs, a group of Singaporean Elvis Presley impersonators belted out his famous tunes and shook their hips.

Their rendition of tracks such as Burning Love and Rubbernecking drew cheers and wolf-whistles from the women in the crowd, some of whom were grandmothers. They even got up to dance.

'Slumdog' wins top honours

BEVERLY HILLS - 'SLUMDOG Millionaire' lived up to its underdog theme at Sunday's Golden Globes, sweeping all four of its categories, including best drama and director for Danny Boyle.

Kate Winslet won two Globes all on her own, best dramatic actress for 'Revolutionary Road' and supporting actress for 'The Reader'. 'The Wrestler' also won two, dramatic actor for Mickey Rourke and best song for Bruce Springsteen.
