Hillary Waugh dies at 88

HARTFORD (Connecticut) - NOVELIST Hillary Waugh, whose prolific career introduced generations of mystery readers to small-town intrigue and police techniques rooted in real investigations, has died in Connecticut. He was 88.

Waugh died on Dec 8 in a nursing facility in Torrington after a brief illness, his son Lawrence said on Saturday.

Holocaust memoir cancelled

NEW YORK - THE publisher of a disputed Holocaust memoir is canceling publication of the book.

Berkley Books issued a statement on Saturday saying it is canceling publication of 'Angel at the Fence' after receiving new information from the agent of author Herman Rosenblat. The statement did not elaborate.

'Man of La Mancha' author dies

PHOENIX - DALE Wasserman, author of the book for the Tony-winning musical 'Man of La Mancha' as well as the stage adaptation of Ken Kesey's novel 'One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest', has died. He was 94.

Wasserman died Dec 21 of congestive heart failure at his home in the Phoenix suburb of Paradise Valley, his wife, Martha, said on Saturday.
