LOS ANGELES - HOLLYWOOD insiders and climate change experts agree that they can't shove messages about global warming down audiences' throats.

They met at the Skirball Cultural Centre on Tuesday to discuss how storytelling in film and TV can translate broad issues about climate change to everyday audiences.

 
Disney to release 5 IMAX films

LOS ANGELES - THE Walt Disney Co. said Wednesday it agreed to deliver five movies via IMAX theaters beginning with the 3-D movie 'A Christmas Carol', starring Jim Carrey, in November 2009.

Future films may also include those made by director Tim Burton and producer Jerry Bruckheimer, the studio said.

Sakae Sushi closes US outlet

AFTER a much-anticipated opening at the iconic Chrysler Building in New York City in January, home-grown sushi chain Sakae Sushi has shuttered its first United States outlet.

The 70-seat conveyor belt sushi restaurant closed last week due to the ailing US economy and poor business.

Snow off-White

IT MAY be hard to imagine controversial playwright Alfian Sa'at penning a child-friendly, sentimental Christmas pantomime. But not any longer.

Known for his gay-themed plays - his last was Happy Endings: Asian Boys Vol 3 in 2007 which explored the politics of queer identity in Singapore - the 30-year-old is taking on the children's classic, Snow White And The Seven Dwarfs, this festive season.
