Intel faces antitrust suit 11:14 PM

WASHINGTON - THE US Federal Trade Commission announced on Wednesday that it had filed suit against Intel, accusing the world's biggest computer chipmaker of illegally using its dominant market position to stifle competition.

The FTC alleged that Intel has waged a systematic campaign for a decade to shut out competing microchips produced by rivals by cutting off their access to the marketplace.

PHNOM PENH - CAMBODIAN Prime Minister Hun Sen said on Wednesday that foundering relations with Thailand would not be normalised until Bangkok's current government was voted out of office.

WASHINGTON - TIME magazine on Wednesday named Federal Reserve Bank Chairman Ben Bernanke its 2009 'Person of the Year'.

'The recession was the story of the year,' Time managing editor Richard Stengel said in a statement. 'Without Ben Bernanke, Time's 2009 Person of the Year, it would have been a lot worse.'

France to tax bank bonuses 7:24 PM

PARIS - FRANCE will follow Britain and slap a 50 per cent tax on bankers' bonuses above 27,500 euros (S$56,700), Finance Minister Christine Lagarde said on Wednesday.

Ms Lagarde told reporters after a cabinet meeting that a bill detailing the new tax would be presented to parliament in January.
