Family 'shocked' over kills 11:21 PM

WASHINGTON - A COUSIN of the army psychiatrist who went on a shooting rampage that killed 13 people in Fort Hood, Texas, expressed shock over the event, in a statement released on Friday.

Nader Hasan is a first cousin of the shooter, Major Nidal Malik Hasan, 39, a Muslim army-trained specialist in combat stress.

US Oct jobless rate at 10.2% 9:48 PM

WASHINGTON - US EMPLOYERS cut a deeper-than-expected 190,000 jobs in October, government data showed on Friday, driving the unemployment rate to 10.2 per cent, the highest in 26-1/2 years.

The Labor Department said the unemployment rate was the highest since April 1983 and October's non-farm payrolls loss was the smallest since August last year. It revised job losses for August and September to show 91,000 fewer jobs lost than previously reported.
