THE top restaurant in Asia is no longer a Singapore one.

Hong Kong's L'Atelier de Joel Robuchon has knocked Singapore restaurant Iggy's off the top spot in The Miele Guide, Asia's only restaurant guide.

Iggy's is now in second place in the second edition of the guide.

 
Tremors shook S'pore

TREMORS shook buildings in Singapore at about 6.15 pm on Wednesday, shortly after a powerful earthquake struck off the coast of Indonesia's Sumatra island.

The Pacific Tsunami Warning Center issued a tsunami alert for Indonesia, Malaysia, India and Thailand.

The Indonesian agency said the tremor had a magnitude of 7.6. Its epicentre was just off the coast of Sumatra.

Quake kills 75

PADANG (Indonesia) - A POWERFUL earthquake struck off the city of Padang on Indonesia's Sumatra island on Wednesday, killing at least 75 people and trapping thousands under rubble, officials said.

The death toll was likely to rise further as many buildings, including hotels, schools and shops had collapsed, Vice President Jusuf Kalla told a news conference in Jakarta.

Ketsana leaves 300 dead

MANILA - ONE of the most destructive storms in years extended its deadly path across Southeast Asia, blowing down wooden villages in Cambodia and crushing Vietnamese houses under mudslides after submerging much of the Philippine capital.

The death toll on Wednesday climbed past 300 and was rising.

S'pore may not play host

SINGAPORE'S troubled Sports Hub project is unlikely to be completed in time for the 2013 South-east Asia Games, Minister for Community Development, Youth and Sports Vivian Balakrishnan confirmed on Wednesday.

He said the Government will not be rushed into completing the $1.87 billion project at Kallang, which has been plagued by repeated delays since a private consortium won the bid to build the 35ha facility in January last year.
