LONDON - DIDIER Drogba lobbed his second goal of the game in injury time as Chelsea captured a 2-1 victory over Hull on Saturday to give Carlo Ancelotti a winning start in the Premier League.

Having equalized Stephen Hunt's 28th-minute debut goal for Hull with a 37th-minute free kick, Drogba scored the winner just after the officials had signaled six minutes of injury time.

Yettaw to be released

WASHINGTON - US SENATOR Jim Webb will fly out of Myanmar Sunday with an American convicted to seven years imprisonment after securing his release from the military regime, Webb's office said in a statement Saturday.

Ma apologises

LIUKUEI (Taiwan) - TAIWAN'S President Ma Ying-jeou bowed to public anger Saturday, apologising for his government's slow response to Typhoon Morakot, which devastated central and southern parts of the island.

Ma spoke at the end of a week in which his administration faced mounting criticism for failing to recognise in time the magnitude of the crisis as mudslides cut off hundreds of villages, leaving them only accessible by air.

Senator meets Suu Kyi

YANGON - US Senator Jim Webb met with Myanmar's democracy icon Aung San Suu Kyi on Saturday, the first foreign official allowed to see her since she was sentenced to 18 months of detention by the ruling junta, witnesses said.
