Yudhoyono's rivals cry foul 7:01 PM

JAKARTA - RIVALS of Indonesian President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono, who was re-elected in a landslide victory this month, have cried foul and plan to challenge the poll result, officials said on Saturday.

Rival candidates Megawati Sukarnoputri and Vice President Jusuf Kalla would file complaints to Indonesia's Constitutional Court, officials from both camps said on Saturday.

TOKYO- JAPAN'S elderly people should keep working to pay taxes as their only talent is the ability to work, Prime Minister Taro Aso said on Saturday, risking anger from senior voters ahead of a key election.

Addressing young entrepreneurs in Yokohama, near Tokyo, Mr Aso noted that more than 80 per cent of people aged 65 or older in Japan were able-bodied and needed no nursing care.

TEHERAN - ESFANDIAR Rahim Mashaie, the controversial aide of President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, has abandoned his post as Iran's first vice-president, the Fars news agency reported on Saturday.

'Following the order of the supreme leader, I do not consider myself as the first vice president, but ... will serve our dear people in any capacity,' Mr Rahim Mashaie was quoted as saying by Fars.

BUDAPEST (Hungary) - LEWIS Hamilton was fastest in the final Hungarian Grand Prix practice session before qualifying on Saturday.

Hamilton's McLaren was four-tenths of a second quicker than the BMW Sauber of Nick Heidfeld as the defending Formula One champion set the pace with a fastest lap of 1 minute, 21.009 seconds.
