N.Korea to 'pay a price'

UNITED NATIONS - NORTH Korea will 'pay a price' if it continues to carry out nuclear weapon and missile tests in violation of international law, US ambassador to the United Nations Susan Rice said on Tuesday.

'If you want to continue to test and provoke the international community, they're going to find they'll pay a price because the international community is clear: it's not acceptable,' Dr Rice said on CNN television, in reaction to Pyongyang test-firing two short-range missiles Tuesday.

Teach character values

THE apparent lack of civility and gracious behaviour during the recent Association of Women for Action and Research (Aware) saga is a clear indication that Singapore is still lagging behind in graciousness, said MP Lim Biow Chuan (Maine Parade GRC) on Tuesday.

He urged schools to teach basic character values to students all the way till university level.

'It is not for me to judge which side was right,' Mr Lim said referring to the tussle between Aware's old and new guard.

Low-cost carriers soaring

LOW-COST airlines that carried 12.3 per cent of Changi Airport's total passenger traffic last year, are giving the big boys a run for their money.

Five years ago, airlines like Tiger Airways and Jetstar Asia accounted for just 1.7 per cent of Changi's throughput and 6 per cent of weekly flights. Today, two out of 10 flights are operated by low-cost carriers.

'Priority of all priorities'

Calling the park the 'priority of all priorities' among all China-Singapore bilateral projects, Mr Lee lauded it for continually improving itself over the years and moving up the value-chain and technological ladder.
