MANCHESTER - MANCHESTER United won the Premier League for the third season in a row Saturday after a 0-0 draw with Arsenal at Old Trafford.

United needed only a point to clinch the title on Saturday, and the result puts the club out of reach of second-place Liverpool, which is seven points behind and has two games to play.

'It's an unbelievable feeling. Thankfully we got the job done today,' striker Wayne Rooney said. 'The last few years have been unbelievable so hopefully we can continue that.'

 
Do your best: PM Lee

PRIME Minister Lee Hsien Loong spelled out five reasons why doctors have to do their best, professionally, ethically, and as a compassionate human being, in their chosen vocation.

'Then we can keep on raising our standards of medical care, and improving the lives of all Singaporeans,' he said at the Singapore Medical Association's 50th anniversary dinner at the Fullerton Hotel on Saturday night.

Better to be safe than sorry

PRIME Minister Lee Hsien Loong has defended the aggressive way Singapore reacted and responded to the Influenza A(H1N1) threat, which included imposing home quarantine orders and raising the pandemic alert twice to a higher level.

Even though there have been no confirmed cases here, Mr Lee explained why the Health Ministry took the 'better to safe than sorry' approach.

Singh claims victory

NEW DELHI (AP) - PRIME Minister Manmohan Singh declared victory in India's national elections on Saturday, saying voters had given the Congress party-led coalition a 'massive mandate'.

He spoke as results indicated his alliance had achieved a sweeping - and surprising - success in the month-long polls that will keep him in power for another term.

Susilo's twin challenge

JAKARTA - INDONESIAN President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono faces a twin challenge from his vice president and opposition leader Megawati Sukarnoputri in a July election to set the pace of reform in Southeast Asia's biggest economy.

With only hours left before a deadline to register expires on Saturday, the presidential race is set to pit the popular reformer Yudhoyono against a political elite with its roots in the Suharto era.
