Asia's 1st flu case in HK 11:33 PM

HONG KONG - THE first confirmed case of swine flu in Asia was recorded in Hong Kong on Friday after a Mexican man who arrived via Shanghai tested positive, Chief Executive Donald Tsang announced.

Guests and staff at the hotel where the patient had briefly stayed were placed under quarantine for seven days as officials announced 'draconian' measures in a bid to contain the disease.

MEXICO CITY - MEXICO'S chief epidemiologist said the World Health Organization was slow to respond to its warning about a health crisis that turned into a global swine flu scare and he wants an investigation.

Dr Miguel Angel Lezana told The Associated Press late on Thursday his centre alerted the Pan American Health Organization (Paho) on April 16 about alarming occurrences of flu and atypical pneumonia in Mexico.

SAN FRANCISCO - CYBER crooks are capitalising on influenza fears with torrents of e-mail promising 'Swine flu' news but delivering malware or dubious offers for potency drugs or penis enlargement.
