Powers agree to nuke talks 12:21 AM

LONDON - The US and Russia committed on Wednesday to resetting strained relations, as presidents Barack Obama and Dmitry Medvedev issued sweeping statements on global cooperation, including a headline-grabbing agreement to quickly negotiate a new treaty to limit nuclear weapons.

As they sat down for their first face-to-face meeting, Mr Obama and Mr Medvedev declared in their joint statements that the 'era when our countries viewed each other as enemies is long over.'

Obama's gift to Queen: iPod 2:44 AM

LONDON - DURING their private meeting with the Queen of England, President Barak Obama and first lady Michelle Obama gave the queen a personalised iPod.

The iPod contained video footage of her 2007 visit to Washington and Virginia. She was also given a rare songbook signed by composer Richard Rodgers.

Protests flare in London 11:13 PM

LONDON - VIOLENT clashes kicked off in London's financial district late on Wednesday after protesters demonstrating against the G20 summit were penned in by riot police for several hours.

Demonstrators who had been held outside the Bank of England for much of the afternoon at the junction of several closed-off streets began charging police lines, hurling glass bottles and sticks.

China, US to combat protectionism 11:04 PM

LONDON - US PRESIDENT Barack Obama and China's President Hu Jintao on Wednesday agreed in talks here to support global trade and investment flows and work to resist protectionism, the White House said.

'China and the United States agreed to work together to resolutely support global trade and investment flows that benefit all,' said a statement issued after Mr Obama met Mr Hu at the US ambassador's residence in London.
