CUPERTINO - APPLE Inc unveiled new software for the iPhone that will support some long-anticipated features, such as copy-and-paste of text and picture messaging, as the company pushes to stay competitive in the phone market.

Apple also gave its vast network of software developers a slew of new options for upcoming applications, such as support for subscription models and automatic alerts, a move applauded by analysts.

ST POELTEN (Austria) - JOSEF Fritzl, the Austrian who fathered seven children with a daughter he locked in a cellar for 24 years, is to be sentenced on Thursday and could be jailed for the rest of his life.

Fritzl, 73, has pleaded guilty to incest with his daughter Elisabeth but denies murdering their newborn son and enslaving her in the windowless purpose-built cellar under his home where she was kept captive.

KUALA LUMPUR - MALAYSIA'S incoming prime minister Najib Razak needs to take swift action to reverse declining support for the government that has ruled for 51 years, influential ex-prime minister Mahathir Mohamad told Reuters.

Mr Najib will take power at the end of March and will have to deal with the worst economic downturn since the Asian financial crisis of 1998 as well as rebuilding a party tainted with corruption and still bruised by last year's big election losses.
