By-election in Perak again 7:31 PM

BATU GAJAH: Perak state is to hold another by-election. The Bukit Gantang Member of Parliament from PAS, Mr Roslan Shaharum, died of a heart attack on Monday morning, paving the way for yet another by-election.

'Once we receive official notification of his death by the Dewan Rakyat Speaker (Tan Sri Pandikar Amin Mulia), we will have a special meeting to discuss when to call for a by-election,' Election Commission chairman Tan Sri Abdul Aziz Yusof told The Star's Malay portal, mStar.

KUALA LUMPUR - WHEN Mr Nizar Jamaluddin refused a royal command to resign as Perak chief minister with these mocking words mohon derhaka (a humble request to revolt), the phrase immediately captured public imagination.

Patik mohon derhaka has now become the catchphrase for the opposition as it remains locked in a stand-off with the Barisan Nasional. (Patik is a respectful word used by a commoner to refer to oneself when addressing royalty.)

Anwar should quit: Karpal 6:00 AM

GEORGETOWN (PENANG): CRACKS are appearing again in the opposition Pakatan Rakyat, with Democratic Action Party (DAP) chairman Karpal Singh demanding that the three-party alliance's leader, Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim, step down.

Mr Singh said Mr Anwar, who is also the de facto leader of Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR), 'needed to repent without further betraying the people and their trust'.
