WITH retrenchments likely to rise in coming months, the Ministry of Manpower (MOM) is reviewing its guidelines for employers on how to handle excess manpower.

A revised version is expected in the next few weeks.

Acting Minister for Manpower Gan Kim Yong announced this on the sidelines of a Chinese Development Assistance Council (CDAC) press meeting on Saturday.

European officials at the extraordinary Group of 20 summit in the US capital said a draft agreement among the world leaders likely would call for intensified government efforts at bolstering national economies, cooperation on international regulation of the financial system and reform of global structures to aide needy developing countries.

Investors rally for 5th week

AT THE fifth investor rally at Hong Lim Park on Saturday, anger and complaints of the 700-strong crowd shifted from the financial institutions to the Government and financial industry regulators.
