MUMBAI - INDIA'S first 'sea bridge' was officially opened in Mumbai on Tuesday, raising hopes that the state-of-the-art structure will ease chronic congestion on the city's notoriously choked roads.

 
'Pigtails prove our love'

HONG KONG - THE alleged lover of Asia's richest woman testified on Tuesday that a pigtail given to him by the late real estate tycoon proves their relationship, an assertion that heats up the court battle over her estate.

The pigtails were a trademark of the late Nina Wang, who died of cancer at age 69 in 2007. Her multibillion-dollar estate is now the centre of a sensational legal battle in Hong Kong between feng shui adviser Tony Chan Chun-chuen, who claims the two were lovers, and the Chinachem Charitable Foundation set up by Ms Wang and her late husband.

Web filter rule delayed

BEIJING - CHINA will delay a controversial plan to require that all computers sold in the country must come with a Chinese-made Internet filtering software programme, state media reported on Tuesday.

China was to implement the rule beginning on Wednesday but it has been postponed, Xinhua news agency said, citing the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology.

Aso eyes cabinet changes

TOKYO - UNPOPULAR Japanese Prime Minister Taro Aso said on Tuesday that he might add fresh faces to his cabinet and revamp his party's leadership as moves grew to oust him ahead of an election the ruling bloc looks set to lose.

The main opposition Democratic Party, though, confronted problems of its own after party leader Yukio Hatoyama admitted that some people listed as donors in funding reports were dead.
