WASHINGTON - PAKISTAN on Friday appealed to the US public to make small donations through their cellphones to help care for some 1.7 million people displaced in a major campaign against Islamic extremists.

Ambassador Hussain Haqqani called on Americans to donate US$5 (S$7.20) each by sending text messages and voiced hope that television networks would encourage the effort.

 
HK confirms fourth H1N1 case

HONG KONG - HONG Kong officials on Friday confirmed the fourth case of swine flu in the city, a 19 year-old woman who recently returned from the United States.

The woman, a local resident who lives with her parents, arrived in Hong Kong on May 18 from New York on a Cathay Pacific flight, a spokesman for the Department of Health said.
