HONG KONG - HONG Kong authorities confirmed on Saturday that seven dead birds recently found in the territory all tested positive for the H5N1 bird flu strain.

 
Tamil Tigers told to surrender

COLOMBO - SRI Lanka President Mahinda Rajapakse warned cornered Tamil Tiger rebels to lay down their arms and unconditionally surrender or face a complete rout.

'I want to tell the Tigers: 'lay down arms and surrender to security forces',' the president told a public rally in the northwestern district of Kurunegala.

Temple plan revived

Bears rescued from bile farms

CHENGDU (China) - A DOZEN Asiatic black bears, malnourished and diseased from years spent on abusive bile-harvesting farms in southwest China, were recovering on Saturday after being handed over to an animal charity group.
