NEW DELHI - INDIAN on Monday formally accused 'elements' in Pakistan of being behind the Islamic militant attacks in Mumbai and demanded that Islamabad take 'strong action', the foreign ministry said.

'The High Commissioner of Pakistan was called to the Ministry of External Affairs this evening. He was informed that the recent terrorist attack on Mumbai was carried out by elements from Pakistan,' a statement said.

 
S.Korea ends Iraq deployment

IRBIL (Iraq) - SOUTH Korean troops ended their reconstruction mission in Iraq on Monday, part of an exodus from a dwindling US-led coalition.

The South Koreans are among troops from 13 countries being sent home in advance of the Dec 31 expiration of the UN mandate that authorised military operations in Iraq.

Taiwan to cut fuel surcharge

TAIPEI - TAIWAN'S aviation authorities announced on Monday that domestic airlines will cut fuel surcharges on international routes to reflect cheaper oil prices.

From December 10, local air carriers will charge US$15 (S$23) for each short-haul flight, down from US$17.5, while the US$45.5 charge for long haul will be reduced to US$39, the Civil Aeronautics Administration said in a statement.

Cemetery won't bury gunmen

MUMBAI - A MUSLIM graveyard has refused to bury nine gunmen who terrorised Mumbai over three days last week, leaving at least 172 people dead and wreaking havoc at some of its most famous landmarks.

The men are not true followers of the Islamic faith, according to the influential Muslim Jama Masjid Trust, which runs the 3 hectare Badakabrastan graveyard in downtown Mumbai.
