Bomb explodes in Athens

ATHENS - A BOMB exploded outside the home of a former deputy Greek police minister in Athens on Saturday, damaging nearby cars but causing no casualties, police said.

'We suspect that a terrorist group is responsible for the incident. It was a small home-made, time-bomb', said a police official, declining to be identified.

The official said there was no warning or claim of responsibility for the blast at the entrance to the home in the coastal suburb of Palaion Faliron where former deputy minister Panagiotis Hinoforis lives.

A string of bombing and shooting attacks against domestic and foreign targets in Greece has occurred since widespread rioting in December that was sparked by the police killing of a teenager.
