LOS ANGELES - LOS Angeles's world famous Getty Center was evacuated Wednesday as an out-of-control wildfire raged in mountains near the landmark museum, authorities said.
Fire department officials said the evacuation burning in tinder-dry brush near the city's Sepulveda Pass broke out shortly after 1pm (2000 GMT, 4am Singapore time) and ripped through around 16 hectares of hillside.
There are no reports of injuries and no properties were threatened by the blaze, officials said. The fire appeared to be moving away from the Getty Center, Los Angeles Fire Department Captain Mike Brown said. -- AFP
