WELLINGTON (New Zealand) - NEW Zealand has confirmed two new cases of A(H1N1) flu, bringing the country's total to 19.
Public Health Director Mark Jacobs said on Tuesday that the two travelled together and became sick after arriving from Los Angeles on May 31. The pair and people they have had close contact with have been quarantined and are being treated with the antiviral drug Tamiflu.
Health officials say all of New Zealand's (A)H1N1 flu cases have been contracted outside the country except for a child who caught it from his infected father.
Dr Jacobs says there are 96 suspected cases, and 161 people in isolation.
The World Health Organization says that 73 countries have officially reported more than 25,000 infections, including 139 deaths. -- AP
