NEW YORK - A MARKETING executive for the German toymaker Steiff has filed a US$80 million (S$120 million) lawsuit accusing the company's CEO of raping her in a car amid a years-long campaign of unwelcome advances.

Jane Collins' lawsuit was filed on Monday in a court in Manhattan, where she says Martin Frechen sexually harassed her as recently as February.

The lawsuit says the rape happened in 2004 near the company's North American headquarters in Raynham, Massachusetts. Her attorney says the assistant marketing manager never contacted police out of fear for her job.

Mr Frechen's lawyer says Ms Collins' claims are meritless, and the CEO believes he will prevail in court. A lawyer for Margarete Steiff GmbH says the Giengen, Germany-based company will 'vigorously' contest the allegations. -- AP
