Barbados' 1st flu case
BRIDGETOWN (Barbados) - HEALTH officials say they have confirmed this Caribbean country's first case of swine flu since the start of the global outbreak.

The island's public health office announced Wednesday that a 19-year-old Barbadian man has tested positive for the H1N1 flu strain. They say his case is mild and he is recovering at home.

Epidemiologists say the young man has not recently travelled outside of Barbados.

The case was confirmed by the Caribbean Epidemiology Research Centre in Trinidad.

The World Health Organisation says the flu strain has reached 66 countries and infected more than 19,000 people, causing 117 deaths. -- AP
