US has 12th H1N1 flu death
CHICAGO - ILLINOIS health officials say a person in the Chicago area has died of swine flu.

It's the 12th confirmed death from the illness in the United States.

Illinois Department of Public Health director, Dr Damon Arnold, said on Monday the victim had other medical conditions.

No more information about the person was released.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention reports more than 6,700 cases in the US as of Monday, most of them mild.

The CDC has tallied 10 deaths, but New York health officials reported another death over the weekend.

The World Health Organisation counted more than 12,500 swine flu cases worldwide as of Monday, with more than half of them in the US.

Of at least 91 deaths, 80 were in Mexico, where the outbreak was identified in April. -- AP
