LONDON - HEALTH officials said three more patients had been confirmed to have the new H1N1 virus on Tuesday, bringing the total in Britain to 68.

The Health Protection Agency said two children and one adult from the London area had tested positive.

All were close contacts of people who had previously been confirmed with the flu.

All are recovering at home and their close contacts are being given antivirals as a precaution.

A total of 30 countries have had infections with the new flu strain that is a genetic mixture of swine, bird and human viruses.

The World Health Organisation has confirmed more than 5,250 cases around the globe of the new flu, with 61 deaths nearly all in Mexico.
