JERUSALEM - A PALESTINIAN stabbed and wounded an Israeli soldier at Ramat Gan near Tel Aviv on Sunday before managing to escape, Israeli police said.
'A 20 year-old Israeli soldier was wounded when a Palestinian attacked him with knife blows in the neck at Ramat Gan,' spokesman Micky Rosenfeld said.
'The soldier was attacked in the back as he got off a bus by this Palestinian, who was also a passenger and afterwards managed to flee,' he said.
The soldier was taken to Tel Aviv's Ichilov hospital, where his injuries were judged to be 'serious", Mr Rosenfeld said.
Police have launched a manhunt to arrest the attacker and opened an inquiry into the man's motives, the police spokesman added.
'We don't rule out the hypothesis of an attack with nationalist motives,' he said. -- AFP
