18 killed in Polish blaze
WARSAW (Poland) - A FIRE official a blaze has gutted a hostel for the homeless in northwestern Poland and 18 people have died.

Pawel Fratczak, a spokesman for Poland's national firefighters, says the fire broke out around 1 am on Monday in a hostel in the town of Kamien Pomorski.

Mr Fratczak says 20 people have been taken to the hospital with broken bones and other injuries after escaping the blaze in the three-story building.

It was not immediately clear what caused the fire. -- AP
