Body found in Eurotunnel
PARIS - A EUROTUNNEL official says a body has been found in the tunnel under the English Channel that links France and England.

Spokesman Yves Szrama says the body was found along the track that carries train passengers and freight from France to England, about eight kilometers from the French shore.

Szrama said Monday that maintenance workers found the body early Sunday. He had no other details.

An immigrants' rights group in Paris, the Collective for Exiles of the 10th Arrondissement, says the body was that of a migrant trying to illegally enter Britain.

Many immigrants, many from Afghanistan and Africa, converge on the French port city of Calais in hopes of reaching Britain, where asylum rules are looser than in France. -- AP
