Couch comes with built-in cat
SPOKANE (Washington) - WHEN Vickie Mendenhall bought a used couch for $41 she discovered an unexpected feature.

Reports in the US on Friday said that the couch arrived with a live-in, very much alive cat.

The cat was discovered when Ms Mendenhall and her boyfriend Chris Lund became puzzled by a disembodied mewing, reported the Spokesman-Review.

After some days Mr Lund finally worked out the noise was coming from below the couch cushions he was sitting on while watching TV.

So he pulled out and lifted up the couch to find the hungry cat that had crawled into the furniture through a small hole underneath said a report on website news.com.au.

After failing to find out from the store who the previous owner of the couch was, Ms Mendenhall took the calico cat to the animal shelter she works at.

After the story gained exposure in local media Bob Killion, who had donated the couch but then discovered he was missing a pet, claimed the cat, who is named Callie.
