WASHINGTON - HILLARY Clinton paid a visit on Thursday to the State Department, for at least the second time since president-elect Barack Obama named her as his choice for secretary of state, a US official said.
Mrs Clinton met a number of State Department officials but not US Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice, the State Department official said on the condition of anonymity.

Earlier the same day, Mrs Clinton made her first visit to the State Department since Mr Obama announced December 1 that he wanted her to serve as his secretary of state.
Dr Rice has predicted that Mrs Clinton, who still has to be confirmed by the Senate, will 'do a great job' as her successor. Dr Rice leaves her post when President George W. Bush steps down on January 20.
Dr Rice has pledged to ensure a 'smooth transition' of power to Mr Obama as her State Department set aside space and documents for his team.
