Man convicted of terrorism
LONDON - A BRITISH court has convicted a man of directing terrorism, the first time someone has been found guilty of the crime in England and Wales.

Rangzieb Ahmed, 33, was also found guilty Thursday of being a member of al-Qaida. His trial at Manchester Crown Court was told Ahmed was part of a three-man cell on an unknown mission.

Another man, 29-year-old Habib Ahmed - who is not related to Rangzieb Ahmed - was also convicted of belonging to a terrorist organisation. Both face sentencing on Friday.

The trial heard that Rangzieb Ahmed gave two diaries to Habib Ahmed that contained details of al-Qaida operatives written in invisible ink. -- AP
