ATHENS - PROTESTERS in Greece have hung two giant banners off the Acropolis, with slogans calling for mass demonstrations and 'resistance' after days of violent protest sparked by the fatal police shooting of a teenager.
About a dozen protesters were holding the banners hanging over the ancient monument's walls on Wednesday.

The riots following the Dec 6 police killing of 15-year-old Alexandros Grigoropoulos have been the worst Greece has seen in decades.
Now the protests are expressing widespread dissatisfaction with both the police and Greece's increasingly unpopular conservative government. -- AP
