PARIS - A PROSECUTOR says authorities have mobilised 150 police and issued an urgent appeal for help to track down a 2-day-old boy believed kidnapped from a maternity clinic in southwest France.
Prosecutor Erick Maurel says police were chasing leads from witnesses who said they saw a tall and 'corpulent' woman, about 40 and wearing a black overcoat, leave the clinic in the town of Orthez with the baby in her arms.
The Justice Ministry's 'kidnap alert' Web site has issued a toll-free number for help.
Maurel said on France's RTL radio Wednesday that a preliminary investigation showed the mother of the boy named 'Diango' noticed his disappearance after returning to their room from the restroom. -- AP
