ATHENS - AN UNDERGROUND group labelled as anarchist by Greek police claimed responsibility for a homemade bomb that exploded outside the Athens bureau of AFP, a police source said on Thursday.
No-one was hurt when the device - made up of four small gas canisters - went off on Wednesday at the front door to the office, on the fifth floor of a block in the centre of the Greek capital, causing minor damage.
In a telephone call to the Eleftherotypia newspaper, an individual who did not identify himself claimed the incident on behalf of the Conspiracy of the Cells of Fire, 'in solidarity with our French comrades,' the police source said.

The Conspiracy of the Cells of Fire - regarded by Greek police as an anarchist faction - has claimed responsibility for more than 30 bomb attacks in Athens since it emerged in January this year.
Its most recent attacks were aimed at defence-related targets. In April, it targeted a number of Italian-related sites ahead of elections that saw conservative Silvio Berlusconi return as Italy's prime minister. -- AFP
