MADRID (Spain) - THE Interior Ministry says Spanish police have arrested 16 Nigerians suspected of using violence and Voodoo to extort money.
A ministry statement says the suspects were in possession of false identity papers, fake documents and objects used in Voodoo 'black magic ceremonies.' Voodoo is a religion practiced primarily in Haiti and in parts of Africa.
Authorities say in a statement on Sunday that police acted on a tip-off from a Nigerian who escaped an attempted kidnapping.
Police say the gang called itself the 'Eye Society,' and arrested the suspects last week. -- AP
