BERLIN - FIREFIGHTERS have extinguished a blaze that
engulfed a wooden barracks at Berlin's main Tegel airport. Air traffic was interrupted for half an hour.
Fire department spokesman Stephan Fleischer says no one was hurt in the blaze that was tackled by 135 firefighters and 35 emergency vehicles on Thursday morning.
The empty barracks sat in a northern section of Berlin's main airport used by the military and by visiting dignitaries. The 1,000-square-meter building was most recently used as a quarantine office. -- AP
